The Research Centre for Next Generation Well-Being

Aomori Prefecture is one of the most depopulated regions in Japan and is anticipated to face harsh social conditions never experienced before.

With issues such as child poverty, low university enrolment rates and declining regional retention rates, the time has come to start ‘Aomori Prefecture’s Next Generation Education Challenge’ in anaticipation of a declining population in 10 or 20 years’ time.

In order to confront this critical situation, we will bring together the ‘knowledge’ of Hirosaki University, which is at the heart of regional development, develop and disseminate educational programmes that contribute to solving regional educational issues, and work to improve the well-being of the region.
